While we all know this year is one like no other, there is still some great spots to see beautiful holiday light displays in a safe & fun way. I’ve gathered a list of FREE wonderful locations that have all types of displays for you & your family to enjoy. Please stay safe this holiday season.
1. PUBLIC SQUARE
Public Square is kicking off Winterfest this year with a virtual tree lighting on Friday, November 28th at 7PM. Tune in to WKYC to watch in the comfort of your own home. The Winterfest light display located in Downtown Cleveland’s Public Square is a great opportunity to bring the family downtown for holiday pictures, creating memories that will last a lifetime. 2. WINTER RIVERFEST
Winter Riverfest at Merwin’s Wharf is set to start November 27th. Besides festive light displays, there will be a synthetic ice skating rink, beer garden, firepits, retail shop, & igloo village. This a new holiday event Cleveland Metroparks is doing along the Cuyahoga River in The Flats. Visit for the lights or stay a while & partake in activities. 3. LIGHT UP LAKEWOOD: REIMAGINED
LakewoodAlive has creatively reimagined the most joyous of Lakewood traditions – this year, they will be virtually connecting the community to safely bring the spirit of this beloved event to life. Light Up Lakewood is back for a 14th consecutive year, help to #LiftUpLakewood with holiday cheer when Light Up Lakewood 2020 takes place virtually from Saturday, December 12 through Sunday, December 20. 4. SEABURY HOLIDAY LIGHTS
Seabury Holiday Lights in Fairview Park is a community project to encourage residents to light up the city with garland lights along front yards. Drive or walk through the neighborhood to enjoy all the hard work put into it! Map can be found here: https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=2292737#.
5. NIEDERST HOUSE
This Rocky River House is a great drive-by location if you’re in the area. The biggest feature? A 32 foot tall pixel tree. Address: 22200 Lake Rd. Please note: there’s nowhere to stop & park here.
6. CROCKER PARK
Crocker Park is ALWAYS my family’s must-do each year. The whole place is filled with beautiful decorations, the big tree that does a nightly light show, & more! Inside the CLE Market this year on Thursdays to Sundays, you can take a pic on Santa’s Sleigh & visit Toy Train Town filled with fun model trains. Santa’s Village features the spectacular tree garden (vote for your favorite!) & walk through holiday ornament. For more info: https://crockerpark.com/play
7. EXCALIBUR MUSICAL LIGHT SHOW
This house in Westlake is by far the best musical light display we’ve ever seen at a private residence. You could easily spend at least an hour here with the variety of songs they play. PRO-TIP: if you pull up to the house & don’t see anything happening, please wait! There’s a good 1-2 minute intermission between songs. One of the most fun things about this house is there’s no radio station to tune in to – just roll down your windows & listen – they play it out loud!
8. ESTES FAMILY CHRISTMAS DISPLAY
This is a beautiful house in Avon Lake that is definitely worthy of a drive-by. There’s beautiful lights tastefully decorated with a lot to see. Address is: 31747 Leeward Ct.
9. MR. GRISWOLD OF AVON LAKE
While you’re in the area for other Avon Lake displays, be sure to add this one to the list. With more than 50,000 lights & many trees, there’s something for everyone here! Address is: 194 Fay Ave.
10. DEVERE CHRISTMAS DISPLAY
More than 20,000 lights will be display at this residence in Avon Lake. The Devere family has even decided to start the show earlier than Thanksgiving this year so be sure to carve out some time & check it out! Address is 688 Lear Rd. Please note: there’s nowhere to stop & park here.
11. VETERANS’ MEMORIAL PARK
Veterans’ Memorial Park in Avon Lake is a wonderful holiday light display put on by the city of Avon Lake. Drive by & view the lights from the road or stop by to walk around this adorable lakeside park. The park is located at 32756 Lake Rd.
12. HOLIDAY LIGHTS CRUISE-THRU
Carlisle Reservation in Lagrange is still the place to celebrate the magic of the season with the Holiday Lights Cruise-Thru! This family-friendly event will feature their classic lighted features to be enjoyed from the comfort of your vehicle! Admission is free, but they are kindly asking visitors to bring one non-perishable food item to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. This event will start November 27 & go until December 27.
Santa Nights: Santa and his elves are coming to visit Carlisle Equestrian Center. From the comfort of your vehicle, enjoy the lighted displays & catch a glimpse of Santa. You won’t be permitted to exit your vehicle but his elves will collect letters to Santa. Plus, Santa will read some of those letters on our Facebook page! Santa dates are: 12/3, 12/10, 12/17 from 6:30-8:30. For more info: https://www.loraincountymetroparks.com
13. BIGGS HOUSE
If you go to Carlisle, do not miss out on this house in Lagrange on Biggs Rd. Though it’s strictly a drive by, it is incredible. Address is: 42108 Biggs Rd.
14. BOB MANGAN’S WINTER WONDERLAND
Bob Mangan returns for 2020 with his annual Winter Wonderland display in North Ridgeville. There’s even select Santa nights for a great photo op. Address is 34907 Cambridge Dr.
15. FINWOOD ESTATE
Finwood Estate in Elyria is a great place to see some beautiful lights for the holidays! While typically the building is open to the public with Santa & other fun activities to do inside, of course this year is different being that it will be closed & the estate will be more of a drive-thru experience. There is still loads of fun to be had here as this display is always one of our very favorites! Finwood is located at 799 Abbe Rd.
16. LIGHTS ON THE LAKE
Experience this lakefront drive-thru lighted holiday display at Lakeview Park in Lorain! Enjoy “Lights on the Lake” with classic holiday scenes, festive décor, and thousands of twinkling lights spanning this 26-acre park. This after-hours event is intended for drive-thru only. You will not be permitted to exit your vehicle. Lights turn on at dusk and stay lit until 10 pm each night. I hope you find an opportunity to enjoy this cheerful and safe holiday activity!

BONUS IDEA: DRIVE DOWN LAKE ERIE COASTAL OHIO TRAIL
Take a drive down the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail more commonly known as Lake Rd from Cleveland all the way to as far west as you want to go! Lights along Lake are in abundance this time of the year! You’ll be sure to see some beautiful displays.
