20 Beaches on Cleveland's West Side - Cleveland West Side Moms

Happy Summer, Cleveland! 🙌

The weather is getting hotter & school is OUT! One of the best perks about living in Cleveland is how close we are to so many beaches. Spend some of these beautiful days at one of the many beaches we have here on Cleveland’s West Side. I’ve put together this guide, sponsored by The Lauren Mastracco Team, with all the details you’ll need on the 20 beaches we have on the west side from
Edgewater all the way to the islands.

*If you click on each name, it’ll bring you to a website with additional details.

6500 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway Cleveland, OH

Edgewater Beach is in the westernmost park of Cleveland Metroparks’ Lakefront Reservation. It features 9000 feet of shoreline, dog & swim beaches, boat ramps, a fishing pier, picnic areas, grills, & a rentable pavilion. The main beach can be found on the lower part of Edgewater Park. The best part about this beach are the breathtaking views of the Cleveland skyline.

Edgewater Lower W Cleveland, OH

Perkins Beach is a not so secret anymore beach at the most western part of Edgewater Park. To find the beach, park at the Lower Edgewater parking lot & go down the steps that lead to this hidden gem. Want more of an adventure? Follow the narrow path to the left of the steps for a private beach experience. The beach here is more rocky & popular for driftwood/sea glass collecting. No swimming is recommended here. No amenities either – restrooms are only located at Upper Edgewater.

20250 Beachcliff Blvd Rocky River, OH

The beach at Rocky River Park is not a recommended place to swim; however, it’s a great location to take a walk & look for driftwood. There is a playground, picnic shelter, & restrooms.

25436 Lake Rd, Bay Village, OH

A beautiful, small beach in Bay Village. Parking is available across the street at the corner of Lake & Columbia Rd. The biggest feature here is the unique waterfall that flows directly into Lake Erie. View it from the observation area or walk down the steps to the beach. FYI – current tides usually determine how accessible the beach is. You might have to climb or get in the water to get there. It’s not always this way but CAN get like that based on current weather conditions. No amenities here.

28492 Lake Rd, Bay Village, OH

Newly renovated, Huntington Beach is part of Huntington Reservation of Cleveland Metroparks. Picnic areas high above the beach offer visitors opportunities to enjoy the striking and ever-changing lake views. New this year is The Noshery, the concession stand where you can find adult beverages & Honey Hut ice cream. See my IG post about this one here.

32756 Lake Rd, Avon Lake, OH

Veterans Memorial Park has a very small beach at its most western point. There are restrooms here & places to have picnics or go for a walk.

4110 Lake Rd, Sheffield Lake, OH

Sheffield Lake Beach is also a part of the Sheffield Lake Public Boat Launch which is FREE. The beach is on the smaller side but definitely worth a mention. Adjacent to the beach is the Domonkas Branch of Lorain Public Library System that offers beautiful views of the lake from inside.

1955 E Erie Ave, Lorain, OH

A nice, small beach on the easternmost part of Lorain. There are restrooms, picnic tables, & a playground here.

401 Lakeside Ave, Lorain, OH

This rocky beach is great for sea glass/driftwood hunting. It is right next to Lorain’s Mile Long Pier as well. There are no restrooms but there are picnic pavilions, a grill, & picnic tables here.

1800 W Erie Ave, Lorain, OH

Lakeview Park Beach is truly a one stop location. When in season, there is a beautiful rose garden & it features a playground on the beach. There are showers & restrooms here as well as a café & concession stand that is open seasonally. See my IG post about this one here & here.

At the northernmost end of Main Street, Vermilion, OH

Main Street Beach is a super cute beach in Vermilion. Though on the smaller side, it’s in the heart of Vermilion at the northern end of Main Street. There is a concession stand & kayak launch here. It also features the Vermilion lighthouse which is a beaut.

13406 Lake Rd, Vermilion, OH

Sherod Park Beach is a great, quiet spot for a beach day. There are grills, picnic tables, a play area, & walking trails here.

Corner of Tiffin Ave & Nickel Plate Dr, Huron, OH

Nickel Plate Beach is a beautiful one in Huron. This is the only beach on the list that has a parking fee of $6 per vehicle (cash only.) It is well worth it as there is a playground on the beach here as well as lots of fun rentals from The Paddle Shack. You’ll also find the LAKE ERIE LOVE sign here as well as great views of the Huron lighthouse.

310 Park St, Huron, OH

This public beach has a scenic view of Lake Erie and Cedar Point. There is a playground, gazebo, picnic tables, grills, drinking fountain, & restrooms. No lifeguard on duty.

1 Cedar Point Dr, Sandusky, OH

Stretching out along Lake Erie, the mile-long beach and its cooling breezes were Cedar Point’s first attractions more than 150 years ago and very few amusement parks in the world can boast a shoreline as part of the fun! And, best of all, the beach is included with park admission and available to all amusement and water park guests, overnight visitors staying at a Cedar Point property and season passholders.

1100 E Perry St, Port Clinton, OH

Waterworks Park & Lakeview Park Beach are right next to each other. Park at Waterworks Park or Lakeview Park to access the beach.

4049 Moore’s Dock Rd, Catawba, OH

Catawba Island State Park beach has a launch ramp, flush toilets, picnic shelter, & fishing pier.

1169 N Buck Rd, Marblehead, OH

East Harbor State Park Beach is open dawn to dusk, free to the public, no flotation devices permitted, changing areas now available, vending machines, grills, picnic tables, playground, pets permitted in designated areas. Walking trails, bike path, fishing, camping nearby.
