Oftentimes, we think of coding as something older teenagers or college students are studying. There’s even been a ton of programs revolving around adults attending coding workshops as a change of career; however, there is a group that should be learning how to code & program. That’s kids.
Having your child learn how to code doesn’t always have to mean that they will grow up to be a brilliant software engineer. There are so many benefits to learning this skill that can help with their future academic success & important life skills.
For starters, it helps kids learn logic & reasoning. Coding revolves around problem solving. Learning these skills at a young age will aid in children’s overall well-being. When they learn exactly how something is produced, it sparks ingenuity & creativity. This generation is growing up with technology like we’ve never had before, it’s just the way of life now. For kids to learn all that goes behind the scenes of how their favorite tablet or game works is invaluable to them.
That’s why Code Ninjas Avon is a valuable resource to our community. Their programs are for a variety of ages from 5-14. The newest, Junior Program, is targeted at children ages 5-9. What’s unique about the JR program for your younger kiddos is that reading is not required! The curriculum is purely visual with easy to follow instructions. Of course, Code Ninjas’ senseis (otherwise known as instructors) are available for assistance & guidance as your children learn the foundations of coding. Code Ninjas JR program is a drop-in format held on Saturdays from 11am to 3pm.
For the older children, Code Ninjas Avon has the Create Program. For kids 7-14, Create is their core program that teaches kids to code year-round at their own pace. The Path of Enlightenment are the many different belts ninjas can achieve. Everyone starts with a white belt & proceeds from there with the help of Code Ninja senseis available for immediate assistance. You can schedule times that work best for your family. The curriculum features Scratch, Javascript, Lua, Unity3D, & C#. Code Ninjas also offers camps during the summer AND during school breaks. So convenient!
If you’re thinking, “that sounds great but what about COVID-19?”, you’ll be ecstatic to learn that Code Ninjas Avon is going through extreme measures to keep the facility clean & safe. Classes are being limited to 7 ninjas at a time, masks are required with desks spaced 6ft apart. Code Ninjas Avon deep cleans without the use of toxic chemicals. Soap & water are readily available for hand washing as well as hand sanitizer.
